Welcome to the first blog entry for Kooky Bakes. Such an incredible couple of months it has been since I got the bee in my bonnet to launch my Kooky Bakes. Back in 2005 I left my 'real' job to start a bakery business. It's take quite a while to to get here today, but it has all been worth it. I know with 99% certainty that if I launched my baked goods business it would have failed. Not because of the product, but more of my lack of business knowledge.
So all of that aside, I'm finally doing it. Looking around there are loads of baked goods companies some are fantastic, some are completely rubbish. I'm striving to be the fantactic rather than the latter.
The initial response to Kooky Bakes has been fantastic. I shared a stall with Molly Bakes at The Sunday UpMarket on Brick Lane over the Bank Holiday weekend.Kooky Bakes & Molly Bakes made the perfect combination for anyone looking for a tasty baked goods. Almost like Girl Bakes and Boy Bakes on one stall. Molly had her cupcakes, whoopie pies and cake pops along side our kookies. The stall looked like a picnic in the woodlands complete with grass, trees and vintage tablecloths.
It was so much fun to see the faces of people after I had explained the Kooky Bakes range. The Junk Food Kookie caused the most finger pointing and oooohing/ aaahhhing reaction. Surprisingly only 2 of the hundreds that sampled did not get the concept of Junk Food. Not bad odds eh?
So what is next? Well I'm going to continue popping up at Molly Bakes stall when sh'll have me LOL! I'm working on the logistics for the online shop and also working on expanding the Kooky Bakes range.
I should run now! Remember to keep it Kooky!
