The Kooky Bakes movement has been gaining momentum. I've had several requests to do bespoke baking over the past few weeks, which is great! My partner in crime Ms Molly Bakes business has also hit the big time. Her lovely Cake Pops are now available in the Bakery department at Selfridges. Very impressive indeed! maybe one day my little kooky creations will be sold from the same country of one of the best department stores in the Uk.
With Molly bakes being absolutely busy with the Selfridges launch, she suggested that I do the Sunday UpMarket stall on my own while she took a little break after the Cake Pop Launch.
To be honest i was sh**ting myself with fear and excitement at the thought. how on earth would i be able to cope with baking enough Kooky delights to fill the stall for a full day of trading. Not only did I want to do all the Kooky treats that I've been doing for the last few weeks, I needed to do some of the things to keep the Molly Bakes customers happy. It was an exciting challenge to find a way to stamp the Kooky Bakes ethos onto cupcakes, whoopie pies and brownies. Plus i had the added challenge of presenting the Kooky Bakes 'look' to the market stall.
I spent two weeks of baking, testing and sampling different recipes to find the perfect Kooky treatment for the solo ride of the stall. So once my flavours and recipes were hammered down, it was all down to a 48 hour baking marathon.
When it came to the baking days... I felt like Santa Claus with my list. I kept checking it, making sure I was not missing a component or step. A bit anal, but it kept me focused with such a large task at hand.
I think I was a little over zealous when I planned what I'd like to achieve, that said only two things got axed due to time constraints and one item spontaneously was created for the menu on a whim.
Come Sunday morning I was nauseous with nerves, thankfully The Bear was with me to calm my nerves and be my little assistant on the day. I had a vision of how I wanted it to look, and i'm pleased that it turned out like I imagined. I got loads of compliments on the way the stall looked which made it worth while.

The biggest compliments came from the customers: some coming back for seconds: one couple from Paris begging me to come and sell in Paris because they dont have any thing this good (who knew?) and even a threat of a law-suit for baking criminally good treats!

At 5:30 pm when all the stock had gone, we packed up feeling completely shattered from a long couple of days of hard work. At the same time I was filled with such excitement of doing it all again!
I'll be doing it all again at the Brick Lane UPMarket this Sunday, the 13th of June. Hope to see you all at the stall!
